Who Are You Inviting Bridal Shopping? And Why It’s Important.
One of our most frequently asked questions is “what should I bring with me to my appointment?”. The answer might not be what you think!
Our biggest recommendation is not so much what to bring, but rather who to bring.
Beginning your dress shopping journey can come with a lot of feelings. There is an excitement unlike any shopping trip before, nerves from the unknown elements, and everything in between! For such a momentous and emotional process it is important to be around people who make you feel loved and supported, unconditionally.
Our boutique strives to make every bride who walks through our doors feel comfortable and heard. Your stylist will prioritize making guests feel welcomed and work closely with each bride to discover what makes them feel like the most beautiful, bridal version of themselves. While we’ve got you covered for finding dresses, the people you bring can largely influence your appointment success!
It’s important to come into shopping with an open-mind. The people you bring with you need to be able to do the same! A standard bridal fitting will have you exploring numerous dress styles and features. It can be hard to feel confident getting out of your comfort zone and into dresses if your guests are not ready to support whatever designs make you feel that bridal glow.
If you’re thinking of making your dress shopping experience a party with your bridesmaids or an intimate family event, we believe less is more (there are many other party moments throughout your bridal era). Typically our most heartfelt, meaningful and successful appointments are often with the brides who bring just one or two of their closest loved ones, or even no guests at all!
When trying on gowns, there is a certain level of vulnerability and honesty that needs to be exchanged between the bride and all other parties involved. As we discuss options, the conversation should always be surrounding the bride’s preferences and feelings. The more guests there are, the more it can be hard for the bride’s voice to be heard over everyone else’s. A bride with an intimate appointment finds more clarity, and ultimately, their dream dress!
Wedding planning can get hectic, and complicated. Brides do not need extra stress of figuring out who to invite dress shopping. There should never be a feeling of obligation to bring a group, this is your time and your experience! There are other ways to include people in the process beyond picking the dress! We often have our brides back for accessory appointments where guests that maybe weren’t with the bride for the YES moment join. Doing a big reveal and letting them help with veils and accessories can be a great way to include people in this process without the overwhelm. You can also bring guests to seamstress fittings! Having someone there that can learn how to do you up, bustle your dress and take photos can be much more valuable than bringing them to pick the dress itself.
We always say to come to your appointment ready to say yes, and you should bring whoever you need to be able to do that. With our high dress turnover, a dress might not still be available a week after your initial appointment. Want to make sure a certain someone is part of your YES moment? Make sure you book an appointment time where they can come along! You can see our availability live on the booking page of our website. It can be extremely helpful to look at appointment times together when planning.
A bride should feel the perfect balance of support and independence! Being mindful of who you bring makes your shopping experience not only successful, but something you can fondly remember for years to come.
